Leading General Counsel Spearhead Effort to Create Integrated Management Model for Corporate Legal Departments

Thomas J. Sabatino, Jr. and Eva Kripalani appointed Co-Chairs of The Knott Group General Counsel Advisory Board

PORTLAND, OR – (Marketwire – February 2, 2010) – The Knott Group, Inc., the market-leader in Legal Process Portfolio Management™ technology and strategy consulting, today announced the appointment of Thomas J. Sabatino, Jr., most recently General Counsel of Schering-Plough Corporation, and Eva Kripalani, most recently General Counsel of Knowledge Learning Corporation, as co-chairs of the company’s General Counsel advisory board. “Despite companies in the United States spending over $100 Billion dollars on legal services every year, there is a notable absence of an integrated management model to enable General Counsel to run their departments efficiently and effectively,” said Mr. Sabatino. “I am excited about working with Eva to define and implement a new way of managing the corporate legal function, where inter-relationships between risk, business value and cost are used to support strategic and operational decision-making.”

The Knott Group’s mission is to Enable Lawyers to Practice Law™ by delivering Just Good Enough™ software and consulting solutions. According to Ms. Kripalani, “It is frustrating to in-house counsel to be distracted from their core mission of managing the company’s legal risk by managing inefficient processes. This problem is not addressed by current solutions that focus on a specific area such as litigation management and are more complex than necessary for the need. We look forward to guiding the creation of a new management model for in-house counsel to bring a more consistent and efficient approach to managing process and increasing their focus on substantive issues.”

The Knott Group General Counsel advisory board will raise awareness of the need for an integrated management model for corporate legal departments and organize General Counsel sessions to introduce a new model for managing legal departments. It will also guide The Knott Group’s product and service development roadmap to ensure that the company’s solutions meet the needs of in-house counsel.
